Donald D. Vanarelli has been a member of NAELA since 1993. In October 1987, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) was founded by attorneys who practiced Elder Law and Special Needs/Disability Law who had four simple goals: (1) Exchange information (2) Establish a national network of experienced attorneys (3) Establish standards of practice and (4) Identify members as a resource to other attorney. Since then, NAELA has experienced tremendous growth and great change in the practice of Elder and Special Needs Law. NAELA is now the preeminent professional organization for attorneys specializing in Elder and Special Needs Law.

The mission of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys is to establish NAELA members as the premier providers of legal advocacy, guidance and services to enhance the lives of people with special needs and people as they age.
