Earlier this year, Attorneys Donald D. Vanarelli, Esq. Chen Li, Esq. and Matthew J. Nolfo, Esq., all of whom are admitted to practice Elder Law and Estate Planning in both New Jersey and New York, presented a live webinar entitled “Protecting Your Assets from Catastrophic Nursing Home Costs in New York and New Jersey.”

The webinar was designed to assist attendees in understanding how to utilize Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, Veterans Benefits, and Long-Term Care Insurance in order to protect their families from catastrophic long-term care expenses and nursing home costs. Although New York and New Jersey are geographically close, for Medicaid purposes they are worlds apart. By contrasting the two states, we hoped to show the differences between the two states’ Medicaid programs, including the differences in home care services, so attendees could compare asset protection options in the neighboring states.

We recorded the webinar. Part 1 of the 8-part Webinar Video was posted on this blog earlier this year, and may be accessed through this link – Part 1 of Webinar. Part 2 of the webinar is accessible here – Part 2 of Webinar. Part 3 may be accessed here – Part 3 of Webinar. Additional videos will be published in upcoming blog posts and on our YouTube channel – Vanarelli & Li, LLC on YouTube

Part 4 of the Webinar series, attached below, continues the discussion of Medicaid’s financial eligibility rules, and begins a presentation of special needs trusts for disabled persons.
