The Social Security Administration’s “Compassionate Allowances List” is a published list of diseases and medical conditions that receive an accelerated disability application process. The list is comprised of the most serious conditions that the agency recognizes, by definition, meet the statutory standard for Social Security disability benefits.
On August 11, 2025, the Social Security Administration added the following conditions to the Compassionate Allowances List:
- Au-Kline Syndrome
- Bilateral Anophthalmia
- Carey-Fineman-Ziter Syndrome
- Harlequin Ichthyosis – Child
- Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation
- LMNA-related Congenital Muscular Dystrophy
- Progressive Muscular Atrophy
- Pulmonary Amyloidosis – AL Type
- Rasmussen Encephalitis
- Thymic Carcinoma
- Turnpenny-Fry Syndrome
- WHO Grade III Meningiomas
- Zhu-Tokita-Takenouchi-Kim Syndrome
