She will provide a synopsis of common estate terminology; an explanation of the intestacy statues and the many differences in the treatment of probate and non-probate assets; a step-by-step guide to the probate process; the differences between the Surrogate and Superior Court actions; the post-probate process; an overview of disclaimers and their use in estate planning; litigation in the Superior Court; creditor notices and responses; actions required when an estate is insolvent; and the abatement of debts, claims and distributions to beneficiaries.
